  • Selling my Kia Pride

It's given me good service during the last six years.

I'm wondering if it may be worth more as parts and weighing in as scrap metal.

What bits would you lot want and do you think it would be worth making up a parcel to send across the water? Just don't ask for the back doors!

I guess the clock and instrument binnacle for a start.

I would be interested in the tail lights, speedometer cluster, grille, and the front corner marker lights.

        Tom, what year is it?

I'd be interested in the dash clock and trim, dash tray (inset on the dash below the dash clock, if you can remove it without damage), and the yellow front fender side lights with pigtails. Oh, and maybe just one Kia wheel cover, for decorating/'artistic purposes!

If you think putting together a shipment is practical for you, also consider some extra breaking parts from your area, if you have the time and inclination. You might make more money that way, too! Especially if you can round up some more speedo/tach clusters with that 110 mph limit! Do you have the car manual too?

Try to figure out how large a package can be sent for the most cost-effectiveness.

Have Tom measure the width of the head restraint posts and take a pic of the type of latch it uses. Then if it matches American seat holes, you could buy just the head restraints and seat covers. Shouldn't be too heavy to ship if all goes well with this idea. (There may be some difference between drivers and passenger's seat covers since they are RHD over there, but it may not be too different for you to use.) As for the rear seat covers, they appear to be equal size, which is different from the U.S. spec split rear seats (60/40). So be careful there! (You could always adapt the fabric to a regular one piece rear seat.)

Would be nice if those power mirrors would fit our doors. If they can fit, dibs on them, and the switch!

To answer the questions so far.
Nobody seems to want to buy it.
                  It's a '94, carburettor engine.
The front sidelights are white not coloured. The indicators (in the bumper) were orange, but have faded almost completely clear.
They don't stay in breakers yards for long, the scrap value of metal's too high.
I've the original handbook. I've got all the original documentation in the (plastic, Kia badged) driver's pack.
                  The mirrors aren't powered!

I'm surprised no-one's mentioned the little spats behind each wheel, I don't recall seeing them on any of your Fords.

I guess the entire mirror still moves, so nudging em would still throw em off, and then you would have to readjust them.

                    Shame...

Unreal!....an absolute tragedy! 74,358 kilometers = 46,203.9 miles. That car is practically brand new! No one in your part of the world wants it and we're all too far away to make shipping it cost effective. All is not right in the universe. :nightmare:

                      Tom -

If you end up parting it out, please PM me and let me know. I'm interested in buying the rear cargo area cover and possibly your front seatbelts and front seatbelt female receptacle.

                      Thanks!

It's curious that the headrests on n. American Festys are an oddball 7 inch spacing whereas this Pride looks to be much closer together. To me it's a real shame to have to junk that car. Somebody here would have snapped it up as a real prize. I wonder what overseas shipping is worth?

The fellow lives in the UK. I guess living space is at a premium over there and motor vehicles are regulated right out of sight (financially, mechanical and emissions-wise) and un-used cars get recycled as fast as they get turned in. I think it would be kinda neat to have a 4 door Festy/Pride but I know I wouldn't be enjoying trying to shift gears with my left hand. The concept of having a newer carbed engine is also there; I still prefer carbs (I know these ones are electric governed but that can be rectified) over non-tunable, non-adjustable EFIs with all their non-intuitive sensors and tag-on gadgets.
Let's hope his forum plea to find a good home for his "trusty steed" leads to something more than just parting out a few lights and a tach cluster.
