Fiesta vs. Festiva.

Okay, I've seen it spelt both ways. It is same thing?

no, not even close, they have nothing to do with each other, the fiesta was a german built ford, has an engine that looks like a ford v8 but cut in half, lots of road race guys love them in the uk and europe, rare as hell here.

Ha ha ha....When I was dating my wife I got a 1978 Fiesta for $240 (ATM only gave in $20 increments) It was Lemon Yellow with Brown Vinyl and only had 46,000 miles on it. It was pretty sweet condition. Well I decided I'd race it, and after a week I had won about $200...And it had a blown head gasket. I sold it with the blown head gasket for $100. So it was well worth my investment. Am I really the only Festiva guy who has owned one? Maybe even though I know that others have owned more Festiva's, I've owned a wider variety of foreign made fords....3 festy's, 1 aspire (current), 1 Fiesta, and 1 Merc Tracer! :lol:

actually, down here in north carolina, there are alot of fiestas.

I drove a Fiesta once. I think it was around 1989 or so. It was old (they were imported from 1978 to 1980 or '81) and didn't do so well.

I like them though. Layout, measurements and weights are very similar to the Festiva. Early Rabbits were very light and small too, at under 1800 pounds.

Now you can't find many cars under 2300 pounds.

i would assume that has alot to do with safety standards ...we require so much more reinfocements ...air bags etc.......just a guess...my buddy back in high school his parents lvoed the fiestas....they has two ....and jsut recently i seen one in a farmers tree grove...so i went in to see if it was salvagable...it wasnt...he wrapped it around a tree 20 years ago and jsut parked it in his yard...its now burried in dirt up to the floor boards...too bad i would have liked to try that as a project car...lol

Safety?

I don't know if it was really the safety (besides air bags). My Fiesta was a pretty damn solid little steel car. I think the weight savings was in lack of anything but steel. It was Yellow steel Shell with giant tough chrome bumpers, and the interior was mostly showing yellow steel where it wasn't brown vinyl. the dash even seemed to barely be there....

I WILL NEVER SAY I DIDN'T LOVE THIS CAR. This car is exactly what I think cars should be....Kinda like the original Honda CVCC or 600's. (and trust me I hate Hondas) But they were small, they were hatch back, and they were cool!

i also liked the fiesta and the original little honda. they were cool cars. now cars seem to not have a distinct personality as they once had.

I drove a fiesta once out of curiosity. Didn't like it compared to the festiva. Felt heavy. I think a lot of the newer cars have tons o' personality. Especially compared to the 80's cars. I mean the escort, celebrity, stanza, Ltd, accord, etc. Everything in the eighties was a rectangle devoid of creativity or personality. I think the fit, the element, focus, etc all have personality, what about that isuzu vehicross?? and whatever happened to it??

my first car was an '88 nissan stanza wagon... i baught itsolely on the basis of its personality! i personally dont think the element or focus have much personality...
