  • Stock B3 Fuel Injector Flow Rating?

    I've searched, and I've not found.

    The FoMoCo part number RockAuto gives cross refs with a Bosch model that says 31lb on witchhunter's site. That seems ridiculously huge and wrong. A different one shows up for the Aspire on RA, and I find nothing about it so far. I've used Festy units in an Aspire before and they worked fine, but I can't find a spec on them.

    Found the following thread which shows lots of options, but not the stock numbers.

    Anybody?
    Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.

    I had Matt clean and flow match my stock injectors and I want to say the flow was around 20lbs. I have the card at home and I'll update with the actual numbers for you.

      That would be awesome. Thanks.

      I just looked over a digiFSM I have, and it says fuel pressure should be 25-31 psi at idle. So I went to witchhunter's site and adjusted from the normal 43.5 rated pressure to 25 and get 23.5 effective. If they really are 31lb injectors I may stick some disc style 30s in and lower the pressure to fix the rich issue Matt mentioned, and still be fine when I get ready for boost.

        You're mixing up injector flow rate and rail pressure.

          My aspire shop manual says the fuel rail pressure should be between 30-38psi controlled via the fpr.
          Running 40psi.....in my tires.

            After reading it again it looks like it. I believe that nominal fuel for pressure in the Festiva is about 40 psi.

              Boy, was I off on the flow rates.... I just got home and grabbed the card that Matt sent with my injectors and the flow rate of all of the injectors is 11.2 Lbs/hr. Yeah, alot less than I thought it said earlier, sorry about that. :/

                Stock 4.6L 2V injectors are 19 Lbs/hr.....not sure what pressure that's at. So, I guess that really has no value to this discussion. LOL.

                  The 4.6L runs anywhere from 35-45 PSI depending on application and year. It is somewhat relevant but not very much.

                    search using "injector color" came up with this, I don't know much about non stock use of injectors, but stock festiva injectors are the ones at 19 lbs or 22 lbs. I own both.

                    15lbs = Gray top injectors

                    19lbs = Yellow (or sometimes referenced as Orange) top injectors

                    19lbs = Solid Orange "skinny" injectors

                    21lbs = Solid Light Purple "skinny" injectors

                    22lbs = Violet top injectors

                    22.5lbs = Blue & Black top w/ Silver body injectors

                    24lbs = Sky Blue top injectors

                    25lbs = Solid Black "skinny" injectors

                    25lbs = Solid Light Blue "skinny" injectors (Ford Navigator)

                    27lbs = Solid Light Gray "skinny" injectors

                    30lbs = Red top injectors

                    36lbs = Brown top injectors (low impedence, used in the 4 cyl Turbo vehicles)

                    36lbs = Dark Blue (Colbalt Blue) top injectors

                    36lbs = Solid White "skinny" w/ rectangular connector injectors

                    39lbs = Solid Blue "skinny" injectors (Blue Giant) (Ford rates this at 39lbs, flow rate is actually 42lbs)

                    42lbs = Lime Green top injectors

                    42lbs = Solid Green "skinny" injectors

                    48lbs = Beige top injectors (found on 85 CFI 5.0's)

                    50lbs = Gray top injectors

                    55lbs = Black w/ Gray top injectors

                    65lbs = Purple top injectors

                    160lbs (1600cc) = White top injectors w/ black body

                      Nope, I'll grab a snapshot of the FSM page.

                      Thanks, Movin and Gergorian.

                      Here we go. Specs as of 91. (KOER = Key on Engine Running KOEO = Key on Engine off)

                        Looks like the Mazda built stuff has a lot of pressure change between KOEO and KOER compared to domestic systems. Just how important is that thing on the firewall that controls regulator vacuum?

                          That thing on the fire wall is a solenoid to capture fuel fumes from the carbon can. Carbon can is fed by the vent line from the fuel tank.

                            I have code 25, not code 26. Quite possible it is related to the above information!
