  • Dome Light Rebuild

I had to replace my dome light because it had disintegrated from the 20 years of AZ sun. The terminals had broken and caused the 10A ROOM fuse to blow. This caused my KAPWR circuit to be inoperative. Anyway, I cut down a Levitron light switch plate. It worked out that the switch plate is the perfect width for the dome light lens to clip onto. I glued a 2 position mini switch that I had scavenged from some other application, but a cheap RS switch is all you need as long as it is small enough to fit under the dome lens. Solder a few wires, rebuild a door jamb switch, toss in a new fuse and we are operational again. Now my car idles much better, go figure.

I would strongly recommend the Escort dome light replacement. The stock Festiva dome light is not very good. Just do a search.
