  • VIN #30 Bites the dust

MY 1988 Festiva LX VIN 000030 with 197000 miles just had a massive failure with melted radiator and the engine overheated with no compressions. We are trying to evaluate whether to try to resuscitate or part it out.

Any good sources for economical parts, I need an engine assembly and radiator, possibly water pump assembly?

    Thanks,

    Jim

Debating over costs vs. needs. #30 was a workhorse and daily driver.

What is FMS? did a net search and couldn't find it.

            Thanks, Jim

                Oh no!!!

I hope you get it sorted out. Poor Festiva.

Was your festiva running hot consistantly or was this just a freak occurrence?

It has been running like a charm as long as I had it. We replaced the cooling fan shroud last summer, otherwise it was a champ.

Damn, #30?? When was yours built? I though mine, with a manufacture date of March 87 was early. Never really looked at the VIN, tho.

#30 was built, as I remember, in October 86 and originally sold in 87. What are your L's troubles? WE are gonna tear #30 down and see if we can re-ring, new pistons and reman the head.

                            Such a fine little car.
