I personally don't have any fuel economy or acceleration complaints while my B3 is spinning at 2700rpm in 5th at 120kph (70mph). Aerodynamics of the car is much more a problem and consequently driving at 50-55mph in the same gear is much more frugal. My auto Festy, at 70, is wailing like a banshee so I don't go out on the highway too much with that one.
