    10.5

I've read 10.5 a few places. That is not slow especially when you consider you are getting 40 mpg doin' that. Yes I do know what a good 0-60 time is. my vmax does it in under 3 seconds. I've also abused a few past festivas at 80 in 3rd. Sorry... bad festiva dad, bad bad bad dad. Doing it right though.... 25, 45, 75, in first second and third. whats the top end on a 5 speed though?? anyone... 105, 110, 115???

              Festiva's have a redline?
              Mine doesn't have a tach.
One afternoon leaving work I got on the interstate, radio was cranked,
about 2 miles down the road I realized that it was still in 3rd and I was doing 65. Is that readline?
NO , you are about 1,000 to 1,500 below redline, when you at 65 mph in 3 rd

I have a G-Tec ,I will play around and see if I can get a accurate time  0-60
Really? That surprises me. 65 MPH translates into 104 KMH in my Canadian-speak. That seems pretty close to redlining it to me, though I don't have a tach, just a set of ears! Usually she gets pretty raucious once I hit around 80-85.

My guess is a stock 5 speed will do 0-60 in around 11 to 12 seconds, with a top speed of about 94 mph. That's with a good engine, one (lightweight) driver, no other excess weight and under half a tank of gas.

Add another second or so for an automatic transaxle.

My estimates are essentially what you'd see in old car magazine road tests and in the UK Mazda 121 1.3L specs.

My 1.4L '76 Chevette would do 0-60 in the same time it did the 1/4 mile: 19.5 seconds! That was measured by an extra person wielding a stopwatch, so it wasn't for only the driver. That engine had 52 hp at 5200 rpm and the car weighed about 2150 pounds. (Most Chevettes had the larger 1.6L engine with about 70 hp. The last year--1987--Chevettes had around 75 hp, I think.)
