  • What to do.... A Sad b6 story!

Well for the last few months all I've thought about was my little aspire. I haven't done all that much, but I try and do something to it at least once a week. Then last night I saw her: A 1987 323 for $500 o.b.o. Well my Brother in law is working on getting his Festiva going, and I thought he might be interested (honestly at first I wasn't interested in the 323 at all...already done that gig with my '88 tracer) Well we went and looked at it, and it's kinda ROUGH. Needs a new windshield, the exhaust is rusted through right at the cat, and for some reason (not the fuse) the brake lights don't work. But then I heard this poor little car speak to me. It is the most BASIC 323 around, no air, no radio, manual mirrors, no defrost, no cool 6 way seats like my tracer had, no bells, and certainly no whistles. After I called the guy and he came over, it started right up, and ran for 15 minutes, didn't get hot, didn't sputter, ran great. (This car passed inspection 8 months ago, the plates are good until October)

Then I got the kicker....The guy said I could have it for $200! Thats right a great running B6 323 that just needs some love, that's when i noticed the good things...it has new tires, the clutch was good, it's a 4-speed (I love four speeds since my '88 festys)

I am seriously thinkin that this evening, I might become the owner of a 323....

Sorry for the long post, Does this sound like a deal that I just can't pass on to anyone else? Or am I just retarded for these little cars beyond any reconciliation?

Get it, $200 is a great deal. With the gas prices you could even turn a profit with it by selling it to a SUV owner.

I have my eye on a one also, see you over at the 323 forum.

      Not another!

      Even if I get the car...I don't think I can handle another forum! I don't know on the gas though, it's a b6 SOHC FI, but it's a 4-speed.

It's the same as pulling the B3 and putting it back in, with about a half hour of extra work.

You pull the B3, unbolt everything from it, bolt everything to the B6, install the B6. This will get you up and running. Be wary on the high end, it will run a bit lean at WOT. I installed spark plugs one step cooler and haven't had any problems with the B3 injectors and ECU.

The blocks are almost identical. Intake and exhaust manifolds bolt right up, clutch and flywheel bolt on, all the accesories bolt right on. I had to swap valve covers because the 323 one didn't have holes for mounting the little plastic box on the intake.
