mid/rear engine advantages and or disadvantages discussion

ok i know the "idea" has come up a million times and some have even gone through with the idea but i want to open a discussion about the advantages and disadvantages of a mid/rear mount engine. when it comes to the physics, mechanics, weight distribution engine placement.... all that stuff. i know we have loads of mechanics on here and some engineers and people with other auto related expertise that are way smarter than me so i would like to hear about this from you guys. thanks
