      1991 didn't have an L-Plus.. maybe he's looking at the sticker and it reads mid-1990? I'd bet it's a '90 L-Plus with white tach.

Both autos and manuals were available in the base trim L level in Canada. As bobbyspider says if it has A/C then it is not likely an L anyway.

It's hard to tell, but I THINK I see wide trim moldings.. meaning it would be an '89 or '90.

          But it's hard to tell.

It actually might be a 90, didn't they change the body style in 1990?

Main change in 90 appearance was the grill.

The grill in the CL post above is from an 88-89.
So I guess it could be an 89 auto or a 90-91 with an 88-89 grill

It definitely has an '88-'89 grill...but that could have been replaced.

As soon as you see blacked-out door and side window window edges (and cloth seats inside) you know it is a higher level car than an "L".

I have my L pretty optioned out...thinking about painting my door and window edge black just to really make it look like an LX/GL. I have a hatch from a GL and seats from an LX.

even though "specifications are subject to change without notice" the sales brochure for 1991 shows A/C and auto trans unavailable even as an option in the L trim.
