  • Aspire/Festiva Mk2 power steering rack into Festiva Mk 1

is this a possibility at all or is the rack too long..?

one other question, Would the capri power steering rack fit into the festiva mk1?

Switch out the inner tie rods and the Mk2 rack should bolt up.

Wait what, I don't understand this thread, what is mk1 and mk2? I thought those were Volkswagen designations? Is this another weird austrailian term thing messing me up or are you guys actually saying an aspire rack will bolt in place of a Festiva rack?

My Festy steering went all kinds of wonky yesterday, I think its the rack, been waiting on it to happen.

please let me know as this is the next option i have to update my steering rack as i think updating that would be an ideal swap.

Just out of curiousity, would a capri rack be an idea swap, cause if it is, i know of 4 capris ready for the picking..

Also, i have a thread going about power steering also in regards to donor power steering racks too. if anyone has any input to add to this, go ahead.

I thought all Aspire racks were power due to the fact that they were after 1993? is that right or was power steering an option in these ones as well?

I've personally never laid eyes on a power steering rack for an aspire. I think the idea is somewhat silly to think its necessary. With the right alignment its not hard to steer. But people do all sorts of things with these cars and its no more ridiculous than my 4lb deer catcher.

The aspire rack DOES fit. You have to use Festy inner rod ends, but it works! The threads on the aspire inner tie rod ends start about an inch further outward, so they won't work.

Haven't got around to comparing jy Festy and jy tracer power racks, maybe someday but I've got bigger fish to fry atm.

I was looking into power steering for awhile because I thought I would need it with the ATV tires.
Turns out it steers easier with them on, It put the fun back in drifting corners on dirt or gravel roads.
In my case I'm glad they are hard to find as I was over thinking it and I get awesome feedback with
                    the manual.

What are they asking for the P/Steering setup?
