  • New bloke here. Sydney

Hey guys thought I should introduce myself on here. I'm completely new to festiva/121's so please bare with me lol.

So here goes I picked up a stock as a rock 1 owner 1990 mazda121 for the grand sum of $200 with 11 months registration, bargain of the century I think.
This is my first ever small car have always had utes or big cars etc. yet when I saw it for sale part of my mind said "your crazy , wtf are you going to do with that?? "
Yet the other part of me was like a kid in a candy shop. Now the original plan was to turn this gem into a little track car to keep my need for speed at bay between all the big meets in my r8.
Heres the r8 by the way .

Ok so back to the good bits.

So the deal was done and I honestly cannot think when I last had this much fun driving a car on the street. The crisp sound of the little 4cylinder idling away is music to my ears.
Anyways enough prattling on about how I live this more than my v8. Here she is anyways in all it's glory.

The wheels I will be ordering very soon for it.

Now to start searching through all these threads on here to find out what's what because I have no idea when it comes to these little beasts.
Any advice or tips would be much appreciated guys.

Nice!! well, both of them! With some cheap swapping that little white one would be smoking he newer one on the track. Your laws make it challenging to bring improvements to the track that are street legal as well, course things are challenging here as well lol. Awesome and have fun!!

The day the 121 beats the r8 ill eat my hat. The r8 is far from stock and most super cars struggle to compare.
Yes the law man does make it slightly difficult but I plan on keeping it 100% legal. From what I understand the Astina is the car to get all the go fast bits from. But still much research to do. No idea where to start lol

Now go and find a set of twin KB Laser carbs, make an adapter plate and slap them on.
        Welcome.

It has 160,000klms so all in all it's a gem. Everything works perfectly not one fault at all.

That car looks like it travelled less than 60000 km.
You need to begin with the Escort rear wiper mod, where you replace just the gear.

                Welcome Potta!

You have a "Shades" package. I'm not sure what came with it other than stripes, etc.

There is so much you can do with your 121 that you really need to just fix her up to 110% condition right now, add some nice things, and then take your time planning what you want to do. For track use only, the sky's the limit! For the street, there is probably no better bang for your buck, especially having only paid $200 for that low mileage beauty!

Personally, I'd keep her looking stock and go with a built 1.6 SOHC from an older Lazer, with the carb package BK mentioned. If you make it look stock, you might be able to avoid any unwanted "attention" from the authorities!

                  Welcome potta!
I'm in Sydney also. Good to finally have someone local.
Nice r8!!! The shades won't snap your neck the way the r8 would, but it just grows on you.

Im currently doing a b6t swap out of a capri (same motor as tx3 turbo). Its a very common swap as the motors are from the same family.

Those wheels you chose are very nice mate.

Drop me a line if you need any help

Wow thanks so much for the warm welcome guys it's good to see so many people into these brilliant little cars that otherwise would usually otherwise be scrapped.
On another note the just tried the a/c and its ice cold another score for me haha. Ill start up a build thread very soon and keep searching and scrounging for parts where I can .
