  • 42k mile 93 Festiva GL, Meets its maker. What a tragedy :(

Well, My Mother in law's freind had a metallic blue 93' Festiva GL, I swore someday, somehow i would get that car, it was mint!,

Sunday, somone waved her to turn, another car came and creamed her festiva, with all the festivas still running in poor condition, this car was like showroom.

Tomorrow im going to find out where the car is and how i can get it for parts, insurance paid her $1000 for it.

Hopefully i will be able to grab some parts if anyone needs anything, atleast some organs will be donated!

Yep they did. Bought my L-Plus on March 11th 1988 for $7200.

About 5 years ago (around the 400,000 mile mark) I figured up the total I had spent on the car (price new plus engine, tires, oil changes, misc parts, etc) and then calculated how much I had spent on gas (at 40mpg).
Turns out that I had spent more $ on gas

wow, not bad. considering i paid $100 for mine. $6300 seems a bit too expensive for my suburban blood. $6200 down in 13 yrs.? huh?

I don't thinks so. Not all GL's had AC or rear defrost. And it definitely won't have a tach since it is a 93.

Well i little update fellas, im F'n PISSED! I called the tow yard that towed the car from the accident scene, they told me that the insurance company just came and got it.

I asked them if there is anyway we could track them down to see where the car was going, they said no. I would have to call the insurance company..

Now everyone is acting like im the jerk, asking my motjher in laws freind to see if she can call the insurance company to try and see if the car can be bought back or where its going. But, She said she would have her son try.

Whats the regular protocall here? where do the cars go? auction or straight to the junkyard? I really dont want this car to get crushed or somthing!!!

I have went through this, companies bid on these cars once they are considered totalled , goes to the highest bidder . Good luck ,usually once they have got to this point it is very hard to turn it around ,time is critical !!
The owner of the car when it was wrecked will be the only one that will have any say so ,She will need to be the one to call .
She will need to tell them that she is interested in the car ASAP.
Once the insurance co. pays for the car they have control of it now ,If she wanted to keep it she should have specified that at the time of all the paper work , but everybody prolly did not know what was going to happen
