  • Somebody Help Me!!

    It's a 1999 ford festiva 5DR Manual

So pretty much I bought a new kicker dual 12" bass station powered sub. But I can not for the life of me find anywhere to feed the power cable through. I am trying to get power from the battery to power the built in amp. Normally people would use a rubber grommet in their fire will to gain access to the car but I cannot seem to find anywhere to run my power cable.

    Somebody please help me!!!!!

Sure does. I'm guessing that's the large unit behind the glove box?

I drilled a hole through the firewall and added a grommet on mine.

yeah i would do the same. drill a hole and use a grommet.
i had to squeeze a 0 guage wire through my firewall
its worse trying to hide the giant wire through the trim.
makes the trim wanna burst off.

I have a larger gauge so the wire will fit fine.

In response to you guys drilling through the fire wall, where did you choose the do that? As in where on the wall did you drill? Got any pictures? Thanks

Close to the floor of the passenger footwell.
That way I could snake it under the carpet and right through the trim.
Or you can run the wires underneath the undercarriage zip tie then in place
And put the hole through into the trunk
They do that when the wires are too gigantic to fit through the trim.
Plus with the thick insulation it shouldn't oxidize.
                You have options.

I will probably drill through the firewall due to my circumstances that would be the easiest option. What should I use to make that hole?

                  Sorry for the rookie questions

If you have a drill that works fine.
Just find a bit matched to the size of the wire and go from the inside of the vehicle
since there's no room in the engine bay for a drill.
A bit for metal drilling would be best but the metal is so thin there
if you had the right bit at home and it was a wood bit it would probably work as well.
But would dull the bit maybe.

Make sure you check the area your drilling from the engine bay and cabin side
as to ensure you don't drill into and coolant lines or steering racks or anything.

I'm sure there are other ways to make a hole.
But for a clean hole with no sharp buzz saw like edges to cut through your grommet or wire.
Drill bit will work great or a small hole saw for a drill.
One single bit would be cheaper I'm assuming.

Or you could run it through the front quarter panel over the wheel wells and out through the side of the door frame

Yeah I have looked I to that but couldn't quite figure out how to do it.

I don't have a metal drill bit to hand so I will probably just take the car down to the local mechanic to get it done properly.

Bring it to a stereo shop they would be better suited for the task.
                          Probably have the grommets too.
I couldn't see drilling a hole and selling you a grommet costing that much over $20 .
But who knows. shops do their best to take money from us whenever possible.

Yeah I spoke to someone on the phone. They quoted $25. All I need to do now is find a grounding point in the boot. Would a good place be where the sets screw into the frame? If I scratch the paint off could I hook it up there?
