  • Finally done

Ok. After SEVERAL days of working on the car, (slowly cause of a still gimpy shoulder), I got the car done, basically rebuilt. Gutted interior so I could, clean the carpet, work on heater core to get it ready for winter, install the power steering set-up, new struts and fresh Festiva springs in the rear, manual seatbelts, wire the future stereo system, weld the floor pan, and tighten any loose bolts (basically a noisy dash).

I also did the Rio Swap w/1.5 coils cut, and the Aspire swap.

New front everything. Moog arms, sway bar bushings, control arms, Energy Suspension sway bar mount bushings (still have to weld the washers), and inner & outer tie rods/ends

Also did the Escort dome light, rear hatch/doorjamb switch cargo light mod, and installed a CD player I've had laying around for a while.

About a month ago I dropped in a new to me Aspire B3 (thanks Zoom Zoom) and did a 5 speed swap from an Auto. Love how quiet the new engine is and how responsive the MTX is over the Auto. gettin' right at 40 mpg. That's the best I have ever had on any car since I had my CRX back in the early 90's.

Holy crap that is a lot of stuff done in the past week. I had to get it all done asap because I'm going back to work very soon. Just drove it a couple miles to make sure everything worked ok. Gonna get it aligned asap. Will update my impression after a few miles have been logged.

I also plan on doing the roof rack that Matt (Zoom Zoom) did and look for a suitable LED 3rd brake light for a wing mounted swap.

Next step: New tires. Then the good stuff. Engine and tranny. It'll be a while on that though. Going to buy parts as I come across them and do the swap when all is gathered. Hoping for an XR2 donor and probably some Dickmeyer modifications.

Man your seriously gettin it with that Festiva, its come a LONG way! I wish I could have come up and helped out but I've been pretty busy lately. Hope that stuff works well for you, for sure you've put the time in it so with a little luck you might just have yourself a good little car!

Keep an eye on the pick n pull lineup, maybe one weekend we can go snag a good b6t?! There's another place that may or may not have what your looking for too but I don't have the info for them right offhand. I'm working on a small cherrypicker deal that bolts to the front of my Festy for getting in and out of these local yards and places that let me in the gates lol..

What do you mean by weld the washers?
      You didm't use castellated nuts?

What did the heater core look like?

Was it full of dirt or not too bad?

^ yea I didn't weld any washers either. The brackets never moved from where I bolted them down.

The Bushing brackets have slots in them. I am going to weld the washers to the bracket to eliminate ANY possibility of the bracket moving during my hardcore everyday driving. lol

It'll just make me feel better.

I am super particular also. that's why it took sooo long to do this much. I can only imagine how long the engine/tranny swap will take me. Gonna have to get a loaner car for that one.
