  • how to tell b6 from b3

Just curious how u can tell a b3 from a b6 by looking at block and head.

The B6 head has larger intake and exhaust runners (and larger valves) and I think there's a part number on the side that should start with B6. The B6 block has "B6" stamped into one of the ears.

Same for the B3 other than the runner size. Has B3 stamped on the block ear and something like "B303" cast into the side of the head. I'd have to look at the ones in my shop to get you definite answer, but that should get you very close.

If a hammer doesn't fix it you have an electrical problem

Doesn't the exhaust manifold, under the heat shield, also have B61K stamped on it?

Also Chris, the exhaust manifold is longer on the B6.
