  • will parts from this aspire work for brake steva brake upgrade?

Found this 97 2 door aspire in the junk. Thought I read that aspires have lug nuts but this one had lug
studs I think. But the car is nearly complete so need to get the parts before they get robbed. The junk yard is overpriced so i'm only going to get the most important parts there. What are the most important parts to get off the aspire? StevA.jpgThanks in advance

You need the steering knuckles with calipers and rotors unless you plan on putting new ones on. and rear beam. Also, some get the sway bar. I personally would use new Aspire tie rod ends although Escort tie rod ends are supposed to be cheaper and work the same. You also need the hoses for the calipers. I used the Festiva rear hoses on mine, I just Dremeled the holes in the mount for the hoses.

Aspires use lug bolts like festivas the only difference is aspire bolts are a little longer... about 1/4" longer.

If the JY is overpriced then maybe what you want to grab for sure is the e-brake, rear trailing arm assembly, both body mount brackets plus the springs and shocks. Aspires are fast disappearing from the scene, road and wrecking yards. Front end stuff you can always scavenge at a later date off an early Rio. I personally am a fan of an Aspire sway bar but that's your call. You need only to remove the caps (and not the entire bracket; since it won't bolt on to a Festy anyway) to get it.
At the JY the rear shocks are best left attached to the trailing arm (undo them from inside the car) because the bolts on the trailing arm very often do not want to come loose or out without heat or cutting torches.

^ yes and if the bottom shock mount bolts are rusted in place and you try and break them loose you stand to break of the captured nut on the inside . . . big pain in the butt, trust me!
