just curious. anybody still have these full length heat shields on their exhaust? I never saw them on a festiva until I pulled these from a car in a FLA JY. my theory is that since the stud and nuts that held them on usually rusted solid, most muffler shops or owners just cut them off with the bad pipe and left them off of the new one. even these ones took a lot of heat and penetrant and care to save the studs on an otherwise totally rust free car.

yep, still have them on some of my cars. got one laying in my side yard too. LOL You are probably right about the rust. Maybe they are more common here because we don't have the rust issues.1992 Green GL - "It's not easy being green" - Kermit - RIP killed by a tree

I have seen a few of those and the remains of them when I have done exhaust work on festivas. The Festiva Store

Yes, that was the OEM exhaust.
Would have been diffult to put back on an ofter market exhaust, especially the Pipe in Pipe kind.
I have at least one mid-pipe intact that I had planned to use for measurements so a stainless steel replacement could be made.
These are similar to the heat shield on the down pipe which rust through and rattles at low RPM.'93 Blue 5spd 230K(down for clutch and overall maintanence)
