  • is this possibly the rarest festy item?

I wonder if anybody ever saw or had a festy with the factory AM only radio. I think these were only available in 88/89.

Think I either had one or still do. Definitely seen one before, though.
Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.

I had one in my current Festiva. Worked perfectly. Sold it on eBay a few months ago for something like $15-20 shipped.

                    It might be rare

but I don't think its very desirable.

Bert likes this type of stuff, he doesn't go for all the doo dads from today's era, he would rather keep it stock and not modify the original design of the car because it decreases the resale value and makes selling the Festiva harder to do, all the camputors and gadgets from today's society these kids with their wings and fancy wheels, modern technology just takes away from the gritty old school feel of a base model Festiva with 250k miles on it... Wait didn't he aspire swap a car?!

I don't know about your area but the selection and quality of AM radio through most of the continent is severely lacking these days (Running an FM station is cheap enough that most stations switched by the mid-'90s). Around here we only have one AM station that still plays music once in a while, and it's government-run (soooo not so great), and our classic country/outlaw/bluegrass station just got shut down and replaced with a comedy station. Beyond that we have a sports talk station, an all-news/weather/traffic station and a crazy libertarian talk station (I find it kinda funny because the right-wing wacko station is the second-lowest frequency- thus the left hand of the dial- and the government-run station full of left-wing wackos is right at the top, on the right hand of the dial). The only other practical use for an AM radio in a car is for drive-in theaters and most of those died with the '80s too.
Also at least with cassettes you can pop in a cheap tape adapter and play music off a phone or a cheap mp3 player (it's even possible to do it with an 8-track!).
