  • On the auction block today

Rushed to the auction today because I knew this car was up for sale. 100K, been in storage for 7 years. No key, no title. Rust free. 5spd, no air. Filthy inside. The roof is caved in, multiple places. I do not know if it runs.

I got there just as they were auctioning it. I won the bid for $500 (absent bidder bid the same amount). Found out after the bidding was over that it has no key and no title. I am thinking I will let him have it, it's more than I really wanted to pay, and the wife isn't real excited about it. I am kind of up in the air about the whole deal now.

Can you get a title? If its from an auction, I would think it wouldnt be to hard to get a title.

As long as the VIN comes back clean, I can have the title in 2-3 weeks supposedly

Give it up and make the wife happy. She's right this time.

Do I have to admit to her that she's right?

$500 isn't much risk when you can retrieve $100 for the headlights, and another $100 just for the tail and marker lights, parted out. Heaven forbid it has a tach cluster and a few other valuable do-dads like thermo housing and dizzie. Not being entirely serious here but then again none of us are Ferrari owners that have to spend $1000 just to get one tire.
The driver's door on all three of my Festys, and ignition switch on one will accept any Festy key; could be one of yours will fit in that car.

Yeah, I tried my key in the ignition, didn't work. I didn't try the doors. It looks like I will get to sleep on it for a night or two before I know if it's mine or not. I would love to convert my auto to manual, and this would be a good candidate for the swap. Also, mine is not in running condition right now for the head gasket, but I wonder why the owner would parks the car 7 years ago.

The body looks fairly straight and I see no rust. If you get the car put out an APB for ignition keys, I would be glad to send you my spares.

If this is a long term project you'll never regret switching over to 5 speed. By my thinking 5 stick over 3 auto is the drive improvement equivalent of Aspire brake swap. I have both and stopped driving the ATX almost immediately after getting the 5 speed.

                      Yep, that's mine. A 1992. And she's broke!

Rio swap, auto, cruise, remote start, air, and head gasket leak.

Hey Bob that sucks to hear about the head gasket leak, I would like to see more pic's of your car since it's so darn good looking.

Well, the auction car went to the other guy. I probably a missed a good opportunity. Maybe another will come along. For now, I will have to see what I can do to fix what I have.

Thanks for the compliments! The old Hooptyva has some brand new tires (less than 1000 miles) on those Miata wheels. :nightmare:
Maybe I will start a long overdue build thread on it.
