I know this is completely the wrong time a year to be talking about air conditioning systems, but I recently came acrossed a R12/R134a alternative called Enviro-Safe, after googling it I have found allot of positive things on it, and the price is extremely cheap, like 12 can case is less than $50 (Waaaaaaay more than needed).
Also after more reading they actually recommend you don't vacuum out your system first, because it doesn't become caustic when in contact with air or moisture, and actually works better without the system being vacuumed anyway.
Now this is very attractive option for me, I have a completely empty system a/c system, and no manifold gauges or hoses. So I can buy a kit for $45 shipped from Envirosafe themselves, and dump it into my system once I get the seals changed, and a new drier in place, then I will be ready to go, no need to buy any manifold gauges, or vacuum pumps. Here is the kit http://www.es-refrigerants.com/produ...it/details.asp
According to an ebay seller, a 6oz can of envirosafe is the equivalent of 18oz in a r12 system, so 3 can will be more than enough.
Of course I will not be doing this for a good while, but I thought I post about it while it was fresh in my mind.
Thoughts?
