  • Speakers for 1992 Festie

Everything I have found says that my daughters Festie has 4" speakers front and rear. All fine and dandy, but I bought her a new stereo system including speakers for her car and the 4" speakers are not 4" in the back. They are 5-1/4" I don't know how I missed this, but I just went off what I read and did not take the time to even pull or measure the back speakers.
Today is her birthday and I thought I bought her a pretty good little radio and speakers for the back of her car, but it looks like now she has pretty good little speakers for the dash mount (if they fit) speakers.
Is this common? I just don't know what to expect. Every time I try to make an improvement or update, it turns out something is either not what it is supposed to be or changed to something completely different.
I am pretty used to it on my house, but not in my car...

4" should fit in the back. Factory speakers were 4" so I'm told as my car was born without the radio and speakers, only the empty holes. Radios were an option in A Festiva.
I have 6.5" in the doors so I don't use the stock locations.

5 1/4 will fit, but they are NOT the stock size (4"). i'm a fan of infinity 4" and a 8" powered sub.

The door speaker upgrade is well worth it if done right.

Stock (like festyboy said) is 4" all around 2 up front, 2 in the hatch. Many people upgrade the hatch speakers to 5 1/4" pretty easily.
There are also holes in the doors which allow for 6.5" speakers. However, you'll have to cut the holes in your door panel as well as either have shallow speakers or get a spacer so the window doesn't hit the speaker when you roll it down.

My rear speakers are not mounted in the hatch, but are mounted in the panels just behind the rear seat where the seat belts go through

I snagged up four of those 4" kickers that best buy generally carries, and plugged those onto the factory harnesses and they sound great. Aftermarket Kenwood head unit. But for $89 total you get a nice speaker that lasts. I've had mine for about 6 years now and they're decent sounding still
