Questions on Underseat Tray and Floor Mats

1 - Pls correct me if I'm wrong, but is there any reason that the driver's seat would not also fit/support the underseat tray? Aren't both the driver's / passenger's seat bottoms the same?

2 - No Festiva ever sold in the U.S. / Canada came from the factory with floormats, did it?

Asking the 2nd question because floormatguys.com advertises a set of 4 floor mats (this is where BraveKozak got his mats embroidered with "Festiva" on them) but the shape of the rear seat mats they have is not like what I've seen in some Festivas. Guessing that what I've seen, and what floormatguys.com sells, too, is all after-market stuff?

Who has the rear carpets from floormatguys? They were on tour at a couple of meets. I didn't order them for my Festiva since I am not installing the rear seat. I know what the shape of the rear seat floor mats from floormatguys.com is, they're shown on their website. For the rear seat, I prefer a simple rectangular shape with rounded corners and what they show in their sample is something a little different....it's that same shape with a smaller rectangular extension that goes up under the front seats.

under seat tray will not work on a festy with auto belts because of the control bow under the seat.

Yes, there were floor mats made for a Festy, I have seen new ones in Brians garage.

OK, so will an underseat tray fit under the driver's seat on a NON-auto belt Festy? Are there mounting tabs for the side rails? I bet there is due to Ford's desire to keep manufacturing costs down. One way to do that would be to have the seat frames identical left and right (minus the mouting feet/pads).

I just wondered if one of the old heads knew. If not I guess I'll check my LX seats when I go to my storage shed tomorrow.

The seats are different in that the controls are on opposite sides. I do not see why the tray would not fit under a non-auto seatbelt car. But the rails are not on the drivers side.... but the tabs may be there. Let us know. I have an LX also and when I am out of the snow...I will check mine. I will see if the tray slides under the seat also.

No need to go to the storage shed. The support tabs for the under tray are welded on to the seat frame on only those cars who had the option. That is the reason why I am selling the complete seat bottom (no tray) with the rails in place. I expect the buyer to squeeze about twenty hog rings to install his seat cushions on it.

I have cut the tabs off before to save on shipping, but I never received feedack on how the rewelding turned out. Good luck to anyone who thinks they can reweld those tiny tabs on without a jig.

ford did have front and rear matched color carpeted mats specifically for the festiva but they didn't have the festiva logo and they are actually pretty thin. these are more like it. 5 pc. from a JDM festy. the front even has a little holddown hole and there's a snap loop on the seat frame that you put though it.

both my 91 Festivas have the front floor mats shown, but the back mats are rectangular....

under seat try was only for the carb Festiva in the usa... to my knowledge, the 91-93 festivas are all auto seatbelt

i'm going to second old yellow on the manual vs. passive belts but they could've still put a tray under the passenger seat since the belt module was under the drivers. but it seems that starting in 90 ford started to de-content the car little by little and the tray was an easy thing for them to discard to keep a low price or more profits or both. as for the tray under the drivers seat on a earlier car, just a guess but maybe they worried that a driver fishing around for a lipstick or whatever, it might not be in their best interests litigation wise during the resulting crash and lawsuit especially if the drivers mangled body showed that its feet were tangled up in an extended tray.

nope...I have a 90lx and it is in there

Having never seen one installed are you saying that these pull/slide out forward into the pass. footwell not back to the R. pass footwell?

ya they were intended to be pulled forward out from under the pass seat. being that the mechanism is just a simple left and right slider bracket you could feasibly mount under driver seat to pull forward or turn them around and mount under either seat to slide out towards the hatch. here's pics. (this looks like a driver seat but it is the pass seat of a RHD car).

Are the trays/sliders still available NOS? perhaps form 4 greens?
