FWIW, I have noticed my '89 with automatic transmission does require a bit more effort to steer compaired to my '93 manual trans equipped Festy.

I seem to recall a post a while back about the difference in the weight of the transmission being somewhat of a contributing factor for extra steering effort, but I may be compairing apples to oranges my case.

Both cars are running the same sized tires (P155-80-13) but the '89 does suffer from some major "crustation" so possibly the pivot point may not be as limber as the '93.

Remove the crustation and lube up the steering column and see if that makes any difference first.
