Since I bought this 92 Festiva GL sport in april I have gone through 3 tanks of gas. It has averaged 42.83 mpg. I am a happy camper with that since the last tank cost $3.15 per gal (ouch). My 97 Aspire got 34.5 mpg on a vacation to Niagara Falls using the AC all the time.

I'm getting upwards of 47 miles per imperial gallon (works out to about 39 per US gallon) around town with, shall we say, less than conservative driving. The best I ever got was 62 mpg (about 52 per US gallon) on a 200 mile highway trip.Ian

Depending on how I drive, which tends to be on the faster side, I get between 42 and 49 mpg, but usually around 45. And for the record, gas is $1.18 a litre here in Prince George, BC. I drive around 150 km a day, so the gas bill really adds up. I've driven 8500 km since the middle of June :shock:A Festiva saved my life.

I'm averaging about 34 mpg with my '90 dead-stock auto Festiva (around town). Kinda disappointing, really; did better than that with my last Jetta. Speed seems to have a lot to do with it. On the trip out to Ohiostiva everyone let me lead and I went about 62 to 63 due to a wheel imbalance that liked that exact speed - got 38 mpg on that trip. Last weekend during the Michigan part of the trip I was driving 70 to 75 and only got about 32 mpg. I'm on the lookout for a 5 speed :-)

i usually get between 45-50 mpg depending on how i drive and usually it's pretty hard. it's a 5 speed 92 l w/ stock engine. i guess i thought it was hard but now that i have a tach the rpm's don't seem to get that high when accelerating. maybe 4,000 at the highest if that. at least not close to redlining. but i don't wanna burn up my engine either. it's still a baby w/ 180k miles compared to some.
