my florida car comes north

another lovely day i toddville, the shipper called to tell me he was on his way, in fact just 6 hours away. he then informed me the car wasnt running and there was an extra 150 charge. apparently it stopped and wont start now, turns over and all, but had to be pushed onto the carrier. guess i missed a previous call 2days earlier to tell me they were on their way with the car, and no emails from anyone. so 6 hours notice and im on my way to omaha, a 80 mile journey. i called the previous owner and he said it just stopped while in route to the shopping lot to meet the shipper. they had lots of rain he thought maybe that had something to do with it. but thats unknown at this point.

so after waiting another 1hr for the guys to show up with the car, they find they cant get down the short dead end road, so i have to use my trusty 4x4 yota van to pull it to the repair shop. after just forking over a considerable sum im real happy to find the car will indeed not start. also while towing it i heard a scraping noise, but neither the driver or i could figure out what that might be as nothing was dragging on the ground. it does look clean much like the pictures depict. kind of a bad stain on one seat, a stain or something on the top part of the door panel near the lock, and minor scrapes to the cargo area much as mine has. so ill have to wait till monday to see what they think about the wont start problem, before the tranny issue. hopefully some minor thing. but luck is an elusive thing in my life. im tired, im drinking, and i have a headache. :cry:

WOW it does not seem like it took that long to get it home , I would not think it would be anything major on the no start , it did run before they got there to pick it up ?
That scraping noise may be the bearings in the tranny making noise as the car was rolling . I wish you luck !!

no didnt take very long really. the guys were nice that shipped it. yeah he said it ran before. but still freaks me out thinking as it wouldnt start when it was about to be shipped off. maybe it didnt want to go way up north where the cornfields grow. i didnt think of the tranny making that noise. god it was loud. i was worried of another problem. the hood looks a bit faded but looks like it needs buffing out to me. its not running but hey it has a cargo cover :lol: i think ill auction it off on ebay and hope ill get about 150 bucks for it. gotta off set that non operative fee somehow :lol:

i was gonna get some pics unloading but when i found out it wasnt starting i didnt feel in the camera mood.

well ill know more on monday from the car doctors.

with the shipping and all i got to much in it to part with it now. im just worried ya know. cuz im paying pro rates to fix it for me so hopefully not another problem besides the tranny.

so it needs a fuel pump to the tune of $244.86 plus labor. before the tranny problem even. im sooo happy :twisted:

I bought my fuel pump from O'Reillys for $110.00 or 130. 00 , its been awhile , It only take about 30 min to put it in , no special tools , and you can do it from inside the car !!!
I put one in my car at work one day in the parking lot , one day it would not start , I always carry a new spare in the car , you never know :lol:

well the car is in omaha at a shop, they short of have me by the short and curlies ya know. im not as mechanical as you are doug. and the car is 80 miles away from me at that.n i dont know what else to do with No help.

I wish I was closer I would help you !!!
I would ask them where they are getting the pump , and How much on the labor are they charging ?
I called everywhere and the pumps were all almost the same $$ give or take a few $$

the labor is 136 plus fing state tax. i hope this teaches someone a lesson besides me.

:shock: WOW that much to put a fuel pump in a Festie? It doesn't get any easier to put a FI fuel pump in a car than on a Festiva!!

i did see that advance auto parts had a fuel pump for 107 and 14 for the strainer piece. im not sure what brand it is. an off brand as he put it. so im going with that one, as its much cheaper. still the shop charges more on top of that price of 107 which really sucks too. he did say an hr or so to put it on so i dont see how he estimated labor that high. hopefully that should be on today.
