try this. http://www.amayama.com/search/ put the above part# in the search. bad thing about this site is you have to register. then you have to make an inquiry of the parts you want. then they get back and tell you if it's available and the total charge. you can't change anything like quantity or ad/subtract a part. have to make a new inquiry. the good is that they seem to have access to japanese warehouses. i've gotten a few JDM only pieces through them. like this cool box lid.

Note: On the Amaya site, you have to pick "Mazda" for "Maker." Then, for "Model," it offers up "Ford Festiva."
The price now seems to be $10.32 each.
It's fussy about syntax -- no uppercase in email address, dashes (no parentheses in phone #, etc.). I didn't have to create an account. It said it would get back to me within one business day. I asked about qty 10 pricing.88L black, dailydriver

Amayama got back to me with a quote for $10.39 each ($20.78 for a pair) plus $11.74 shiping (2 week delivery).
Has anybody actually ordered this item from Amayama and verified that it fits?
They didn't respond to my request for a quote on quantity 10 of the item.88L black, dailydriver

well i can take one out of the plastic and make sure but since its the OEM gasket for the mazda 121 DA and the festiva is pretty much a 121 clone, it's probably going to fit. the mazda gasket seems to be spongier than the gaskets that came on KIA pride tail lamp assemblies and they are thinner at the 4 corners whereas the KIA gaskets are of uniform thickness. even though i bought a set i don't think the price with shipping is justifiable unless you sleep better knowing that the best and correct part is installed even in non-visible locations. a bead of silicone will probably work as well or better but future removal will be frustrating. i haven't dealt a lot with amayama but i doubt they care much about small quantity discounts. the savings you'll realize will be a decrease in per unit shipping cost. they are however a source of japanese domestic market festiva parts, what little inventory as remains. for instance, you can still get the 13" version of our 12" OEM alloy wheels (8BD237600) for about $450 ea. center cap not included.

F3BZ,
I was looking for a quick reliable solution to take care of an immediate problem. I can't spend half a day saving $10 or $20.88L black, dailydriver

O KAAY, but your initial path in this thread seemed to be on acquiring a quantity and a discount of the OEM gaskets from Amayama. i was just sharing my experience in dealing with them. quicker, dirtier, and cheaper solutions to the same end were offered by others as the thread unraveled, one of which may be an answer to your new priorities.

The pair of AMAYAMA gaskets I ordered ($32 for the pair including international "express mail" shipping) arrived. As noted by F3BZ, they indeed are thinner in the corners around the screw holes, which I presume is to get a better seal in between the screws. Aside from the varying thickness the material seems to have the consistency of mouse pads, but I'm sure will last much longer.
The holes are actually about 1/4" closer together than the actual screw-to-screw distance so it has to be stretched a bit to install. Presumably this avoids bunching/wrinkling such as we've all see on the rubber timing belt cover gaskets.
Well worth $16 each delivered. I'll be buying more for the rest of the active fleet. No more rusted-out light bulb sockets due to water intrusion!Last edited by AlaskaFestivaGuy; 07-06-2014, 11:46 PM.88L black, dailydriver

I am just going to use an actual pair of mouse pads and cut out the gaskets with a pair of scissors. I betcha they are using the same thing. They cost fifty cents each, brand new. I have a complete set of hole punches.Last edited by bravekozak; 07-07-2014, 12:02 AM.

The corners are definitely thinner than the rest. It looks/feels like the corners might have gone through some heat treatment process to semi-melt the material to make it thinner.88L black, dailydriver

I just made a dxf file for this and got a quote for some material called "Polyethylene HDPE - High Density". Has a durometer just barely harder than silicone rubber. 65 exactly. I used 1/8" thickness for the quote, and it is black material.
Orders of more will of course be less per item. I can start a thread for a group buy if there is interest. Basic price breakdown is below. All are plus shipping from me to you. Also if someone can do it cheaper, by all means let me know, and I will send you the dxf to do it.
5 sets = $23.40 per set
10 sets = $15.00 per set
15 sets = $12.70 per set
20 sets = $12.50 per set
So 15 sets (30 pieces total) seems to be the bulk discount increase cutoff.
Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.
