  • If all the planets align, I may be picking up a BP with 20k on it this weekend...

Story is, his brother was going to do a swap into a protégé and never did it, brought it to his shop and never came back, sold the car and left the engine. It's sat a while.

I think they are, just the wires pulled out, the coolant lines appear to be cut and it doesn't look like it has a distributor. I'm kicking around putting it in front of the automatic in my black car.

This BP has no distributor and no ECU and I don't know if any wiring harness. Is using a J/Y Disty, ECU amd Escort wiring going to be a problem? I don't know if the motor was a manual or auto either.

If your swapping it into a festiva . You will need a vaf , ECM and distributor . You won't need the wiring harness just add two wires and your done .

I understand that, but between reading this swap guide and the ClubProtege swap guide, I was under the impression it made a difference if the engine came out of a manual or automatic car. I understand the ECM's are different between the two and that one distributor is 3 wire and the other is 4 wire, I'm not sure if the VAF makes a difference. Plus it sounds like a GTX intake keeps you from having to modify the firewall.

ClubProtege also said you needed 6" of wire off some of the sensors to be able to graft into the Festiva wiring harness, but I'm not sure how much wiring this engine has if any. I just don't want to buy it then find out I can't use it is all.

The three wire four wire problem is the tps . All you need is a man throttle body and everything works . I can see in the picture the tps is square , that means it should be manual already .
You will need to add the fourth wire for the distributor and pin it then pin a wire for the Vic's .
Have you seen the bp guide . Either way that engine is def usable .
