we are not going to delete an account...not sure what security you are talking about. I am sorry if you want to leave but we have thousands that have just plain stopped using their account without issues.

Someone else using my account after I've stopped using it, obviously.

What's the reason for not deleting account? Is there something in the forum rules that says no account shall be deleted once created in the user agreement upon registration? I'm sure the administration software allows deletion. comparing my account to thousands of others isn't my point of interest. i would like to have my account deleted. not dorminant/unused.

I'm fascinated how I personally ask to have it deleted but you guys won't. You can change details, password, username itself, etc, correct?

I'd like to see some quoted material from the user agreement.

      Thank you.

      edit:

i just looked at the regstration agreement, and there nothing mentioned about an account being refused to be deleted.

i also checked into the documentation about account deletion, it's quite simple. i followed the step by step directions from

      Prune/Move Users

As an admin of several other sites (not this one, so I can't speak on their behalf) ...why? I've never had someone request a forum account deletion.

Unless you give your exact login credentials to someone, your account will never be used again.

Deleting a user removes potentially useful information from the forum in the form of past posts. It's kind of universally understood that if you leave, your account & past posts stay. There's that one fix or whatever that someone searching will run across and say "aha! This is the info I needed!" The forum is here for the greater good.

Some software will just replace your username with "guest" and retain the posts as it's an integral part of the database and would leave gaps. But that's just silly

Wow Jason, are you seriously getting butthurt cause the admins don't see a reason to delete your account?

It's simple, change your password/login info to an obscene long password while your drunk, that way you'll forget what you put in for the password and then no one can login into your account since you won't even remember what the password is.... Problem solved

              Account removal/delete

Next question I just thought of, why do you care if someone else logs into your account?

If you're finished with this site and never intend on returning, simply make your final post saying any more posts from your account won't be you

It's not like anyone can access any financial/secured info on here

It'd be like me crying if someone logged into my Facebook account "oh no! People can talk to my friends!! It's the end of life as we know it!!".....

I was thinking the exact same thing. I mean if your not using the account how would you know if someone else is.

Why did you even login to see my posts? If we deleted your account by now, you'd be without this site and couldn't see these posts anyway

By you still logging in to check this thread, it just says to me you're not done with this site yet

A few years ago, I didn't want my Facebook account, so I stopped logging in, I didn't try to delete my account, I just stopped using it and it didn't hurt anything to sit there.... Just saying

I'll make sure it gets locked. Search bots can crawl and index without accounts for write access.

Dude just wants his account deleted. Is it really that hard to do? Most forums you can delete your own account if you want. I've done this before. It kept all my old posts and just turned my account into a "Guest".

Jason if you are that paranoid just go start posting vulgar and inappropriate things all over the forum and the mods will be forced to Block you. Problem solved!
