  • tie rod ends for aspire not working for aspire knuckles?? there too big or something.

so im like done with everything im just trying to torque down the tie rod ends and they keep spinning no matter how hard i push down no matter how clean i seem to get the hole and taper on the tie rod end( i greased them before torquing them down oops). it seems like the thread and taper part of the tie rod end are the wrong size. i called orileys and verified the part number is right for the aspire. so why doesnt the aspire tie rod end fit the aspire knuckle???? its smashing the boot into a pancake and has already ripped the brand new boot. im so mad right now. ugh.

So it seems like the tapered hole in the knuckle that the tie rod end goes into is too big? I wonder if someone reamed them out?

They are packaged wrong or mis labeled- even if they are festy ends the taper will still match the aspire knuckle.

I had the same deal with both of my aspire knuckles (had a manual then automatic) I would spin the nut but it would end up rotating in the joint before it was set in the knuckle all the way and would have play in the joint when you wiggle the tire back and forth. I fixed them by tapping the top of the tie rod with a rubber hammer (twisting the nut doesnt seem to set it all the way in the taper before it starts spinning in the joint) Then i took some pliers and carefully clamped them onto the threaded part of the tie rod end while twisting the nut a little bit tighter with an open end wrench. This got rid of all the play i had in the front end.

in hindsight i believe you should set them in the tapered joint all the way FIRST before tightening the nut. Thats why i had to put pliers on the threads which isnt the way it should work
        hope this helps, good luck.

so yea these tie rod ends are wrong. ive ordered 2 sets from orileys now and both have fit the old festiva knuckle(hole in festiva knuckle for tie rod is smaller) but go in way too far in the aspire tie rod knuckle. i can see the end of the threads coming out of the bottom so theres no way it will tighten down all the way. i have no idea whats going on they say the tie rod ends are compatible with aspire. sucks bad

what "brand" are these defects? made in china? just so others can avoid the same headache. "the bitterness of poor quality is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten".

Ok so twice(2 TIMES) they sold me festiva sized (taper size) tie rod ends part number ES3388. Its the Master pro cheapo line. Crazy cuz they sent me one that had a grease zurk. Took it back they re ordered it got one with out a zurk still didn't fit the aspire nuckle. So I had them order the next price tier up tie rod ends which were moog. 75 a piece but I made him give me a discount for the inconvenience of driving back there 3 times. So moral of the story be careful with the Master pro cheapo tie rod ends from orileys. On a good note they were very understanding and helpful through the whole experience. The moog parts fit perfect!
