Will a GTX ECU work with a non turbo'd BP or do I need to just get the EGT ECU?

  • Will a GTX ECU work with a non turbo'd BP or do I need to just get the EGT ECU?

I'm wanting to rear turbo later and would rather not buy 2 ECU's if I didn't have to. I'm looking at a GTX intake right now, not sure what all EGT Intake stuff will go right on it, I don't want to hack the firewall.

I realize the ECU will be different, but not knowing anything about factory turbo setups, I didn't know if the computer sees boost or not and if it does and there's none, does it go into some sort of limp mode?

Most of the stuff I'm around is high HP 1/4 setups with aftermarket computers and huge turbos that I can never hope to afford. (Buddy's chassis shop builds Outlaw 10.5 and X275 cars)

i tried a GTX ecu in my stock BP swapped festiva just as an experiment and no it will not. it starts for 2 seconds and dies.
the GTX ecu is expecting 360 cc injectors and has pulsewidth maps accordingly, the BP injectors are like 254 cc IIRC the GTX ecu doesn't have the capability to compensate that far using the 02 sensor.
"Its not fast, but its fast for a festiva."

You need to run the knock box too.

The guy has the GTX injectors too. I'm doubting I have a knock box on my BP.
