  • Anyone remember those nifty little 2CV trucks/etc.

This link is for a Citroen car club's site; sort of like an unimaginable FF.com, as the saying goes "if wishes were horses beggars would ride."[http://www.citroencarclub.org.uk/drupal/node

I've always liked French automotive products; which of course are rare in this country. From the time a high school musician friend had an older four-door Simca compact sedan. There is a great noir movie from the '50s set in France made by a famous French film maker; with a Citroen 2CV truck almost a character, driven in association with a boarding school central to the plot.

Those little trucks looked great; I was definitely reminded of first seeing my Festiva, for the utilitarian feel parked with a for sale sign and the rear seat folded down.

The 2CV truck, which also was built as a car; had a corrugated metal canopy over a rear pickup bed, and amazing seats with round metal tubing frames and woven synthetic cloth to sit on and the seat back, not unlike a folding lawn chair.[http://www.citroenet.org.uk/utilitie...tte/2cvan.html

Speaking of French, I still want a Le Car.

Because a 6'4" guy driving a Festiva/Sprint isn't bad enough. I want smaller and more feminine.
    Sigh.

Had one, R5, same yellow color, but without the fun top and alloys.
Did have the folding year seat so you could haul a bunch of stuff.
But the engine was as good as the B3.
Even 30 years ago getting parts was difficult.

Better if you can get an R5 Turbo!

I saw one of these a long time ago. Was at least 10+ years ago, me a my cousin were on our way to a drive in, and we passed one on the highway, because I distinctly remember a Renault badge on the back.

But speaking of foreign cars we don't see here, the other day I was pulling into work, and I saw a newish car at least 2004 or newer, with Opel badges. Owner probably saw it was a Opel in foreign countries and imported the Opel badgeing and cosmetic stuff to make it look like the Opel. Kinda like what we do with our Festies to make them look like Kia Prides, or Mazda 121s.
