  • four speed???

Proud new festival owner last Saturday. 1991 l model
After I got it home I found much of what I was told about the history of the car to be lies.
Nothing to bad though but, I was told that years ago the old school grampa replace the 5 speed with a four, only prob is at 60 mph it seems I am running at a high rpm, ESP compared to my buddies five speed.
So how do i know if my trans is a four or I have a screwed up five without fifthgear

    Thanks for your help

Four speed makes the engine scream a bit at higher speeds (like 1-3MPG loss at 60+). I think like 600RPM higher than a 5-speed? Easiest way to tell is stick it in 5th and see if there's a gear! :p

Oh, and welcome to the site! If you don't mind, put your location in your profile so we know whereabouts you are.

Good luck with the 5 speed search. I have been looking for a while now. This web site has been wonderful for help with finding festiva stuff.
