I just became a member Sunday and bought my first Festiva, a 1990 L, Monday. I had never even heard of them and found my new family researching it. I passed the one I bought on the way to work for over two weeks and was intrigued. After reading many many post I had to have it. I just want to thank you for all this useful info and showing me the the light. Glad to get my 1st post out of the way. Pics coming soon.

Welcome Syn!
For now, you may want to just get your Festiva running as well as possible and checking what it needs. Check ball joints, fluids, seals, bearings, rust, brake line corrosion, etc. These cars are getting OLD, so it's best to catch things early and do preventive maintenance.

Thanks Karl. Definitely taking your advice. I took it for grant it that the former owner was a mechanic....until I took it for a spin the other day and the temp gauge kept rising. Got it home fine but checked the coolant and both the reservoir & radiator were bone dry!

Close call. I never take anything for granted. Fill it with water first and check for leaks. Then remove your heater hoses and then forward and reverse flush your heater core. Then flush out your engine block. Then fill with 60:40 if there are no leaks. Good luck.Last edited by bravekozak; 05-18-2014, 03:53 PM.
