  • 49.61 mpg!

I got my 5 speed '91 L on the road last week. Drove 319.5 miles on 6.440 gallons of gas for 49.61 mpg Mixed driving (city/highway) at speeds up to 65 mph. Not bad for an old car with no complicated hybrid technology!

No, the gauge still showed a half a tank.

I always fill mine up went the tripometer shows 325 miles because my gas guage is showing near empty by then. But when I fill it up it will only take 7 1/2 to 8 gals. Gauge should be showing 1/4 tank left. Guess it keeps me from running out.

before i switched clusters i could drive mine until it went to the bottom of the red line or even a little below and it'd only take 8 - 9 gallons. now after installing the new cluster if it touches the red line i better be going/close to a gas station. found out the hard way pushing it a little to far. the gas guage on clusters w/o a tach are a lot bigger though than one w/ if that means anything.

that is some serious gas mileage. best i ever got was 46. still not bad though. esp since gas is through the roof.
89 L, hopefully returning from the dead soon with a little more power...
