5w-30 or 10w-30 for warmer climates. Nothing else should be used, the engineers know better than you.
1991 Ford Festiva BP (Full Aspire/Rio Swap) (337k Miles) (Around 95k Engine)
2002 Chevy Cavalier LS Sport 2.2L DOHC Ecotec (Threw a Rod)
1998 Chevy Monte Carlo LS 3.1 V6 (225k miles) Best MPG = 28
Synthetic is fine. I was thinking of running Wal-Mart synthetic next oil change myself. Cheaper than AutoZone synthetic.

Always ran 20/50 when I could get it back with the '88 Festiva and drove it from 175K to 275K plus with no issues.
More likely to run 10/40 now, just because I don't drive cross country anymore- like I did in that one- even if I'm in Florida- bought the old one in California.
the Aspires just over 110K- got it at 35- and the oil is so clean I usually still have trouble reading it after a change
and must average about 2000 between those
just got a 5 qt bottle of 10/40 at Walmart for $12 something and get it changed when it cools down- getting near 2000 on it since about March I think.
never have to add a drop between changes.
I did more than usual miles looking at old back-ups this summer afore I got the 91 Festiva.
What ever has zinc in it still. Its being banned like they did lead in gas. Out here about all I can find it in is race oil or some 15w40. Or buy a bottle for 20 bucks and use any oil.
I did one year, during a real cold snap, change the oil over to 0W20. Started great without being plugged in at -25 but the engine did not like that stuff and when warmed up clattered much more than I was comfortable with. Siphoned off a litre and replaced it with 10W30 stuff to make the tapping sounds go away. 5-20/5/30 is about as thin as I'd want to go in a 25 year old B3 when it's cold outside.
I use 10-30 Castrol GTX High Milage as it never gets below 0º F here..... only use 10-30 in 0º or higher climate or 5-30 where climate will get below 0º in the b3 engine
