No.The front running lights are in the headlight housing.Little 194 bulbs. That way if the actual headlight goes out it looks like you just have a dim headlight.

Coool Factoid. Some engineer had a good idea, for a change. Also, a good answer in less than an hour. How's that for service?
      I hate being Bi-Polar, it's awesome.

Thanks.I am one of the few members of this board who see an Aspire as something more useful than a parts donor for Festivas.I will admit though I have one Aspire I am thinking of using for a swap for my Festiva.

I love my aspire too. After the festi was gone I picked up an aspire with 93000 miles in perfect shape real cheap. In fact I just sold my 2005 scion Xb because it just sat since I bought the aspire. I have more fun driving a 20yo aspire than I did with a 9yo Toyota, lol.

Other than looks, what are the downsides to an Aspire compared to as Festiva?

You must be hard on the tranny to have to replace it so often. I actually think the aspires are an upgrade from the festiva. I liked my festi a lot but the aspire is more comfortable, has a better ride, and better safety. Ok so they are not as pretty, but I would rather be a little more safe and better handling than looking cute.

I think I too actually prefer Festiva to Aspire, although I've always appreciated the larger 13 wheels on Aspire- Festys have more headroom and the flat dash before airbags is really nicer when travelling. Aspire's more aerodynamic.

Got the first 88 in 97, sold in 2011
The Aspire in 2003, still the daily driver 112 K now
and now a "new' 91 Festiva in August- just parked in garage for the winter, 75K
