  • I smuggled a festy over the border

I remember someone asking me to let them know how importing Dave's festiva went so I thought I'd post this.

    What I needed:
    Title
    Bill of sale
EPA & DOT letter from Ford. (Cost 18$ and took them three days to email it to me.

I drove it home so I had to get a temporary plate from the Canadian dmv. For that I needed
    A second form of ID
    Proof of insurance
    Fill out some forms
    Give them 20 dollars
Ignore how b*tc*y the dmv woman was

Drove it to the border and filled out some forms and drove it home with no plates. Luckily I only live 15 minutes from the border. I would recommend towing it home if you live any further since you can't register the car without the proper paperwork from customs.

Smuggling tax free booze is more difficult than that, unless you are allergic to paper work, Looks like it was well worth the effort!!

Did they sell festies in mexico ??

I once bought illegal oranges in Lake Havasu Arizona and drove them home to Needles California, through their fruit inspection station out on the interstate and everything.

Here's a little song I made up at the time, early 2000's I guess,

to the tune of Credence Clearwater's tune, is it "looking out my backdoor" ?

            "Just got back from Indiana
Snuck in an orange and a banana,
            Look out California,
            Med fly here she comes

You're now in a fruit restricted area
Better watch out or you'll get Malaria
            Doo doo doo
Grapes of Wrath for the poor...."
