Aluminum vs Steel

From all that I have seen, the steels came on all cars till 92? the 92 and 93 GL/GL sports had aluminums? My 91 GL came with White painted steels and tires less then 10%

On another note, I need to get another set of Konig Incident rims with studded tires if anybody has one or both for cheap...

going thru all 5 dealer brochures here's whats what. (subject to change without notice) 1992/93 - alloys standard on all GL. 1991 - no alloys shown even as an option. GL standard with color keyed 4.5" steel wheels. silver, sandalwood, white. 1990/89 - alloys optional on L PLUS, LX. 1988 - alloys optional on LX and a november 1987 product update adds them as an option for L PLUS.

What is meant by color keyed 4.5" steel wheels? What color is the sandalwood?

sales speak for color coordinated. color combinations generally accepted as pleasing/tasteful. sandalwood is just light brown. 1991 GL paint/wheel combos:
Hot Red (E5) / Light Sandalwood Frost ClearCoat. White (Y8) / White. Bright Blue Met. (M3) & Bright Silver (Y9) / Bright Silver ClearCoat.

they are the same silver steels, just painted body color?

I have only seen white and silver alloys. They 12"x4 1/2" and the white ones look like this...

nothings writ in stone. as stated on sales literature, specs subject to change without notice. it was ironic that in the same dealer only sales sheets that said a red GL would be equipped with sandalwood steel wheels they then show a pic of a red GL with silver steel wheels. i know that bronze colored steel wheels were also issued but can't say what year or trim level. i think the white alloys were exclusive to the 92 and/or 93 GL SPORT trim.

LX models up this way came with silver alloys. Certainly the two original 93 parts cars I scavenged had them. OEM they also featured 165 width tires instead of the usual 145.

ya the L should have came with 145 and the GL should have came with 165/70/12, that I know... even tho my GL does not have the driver's door jam information sticker
