  • Debating on a 89 Festiva

Hey! New here, I'm debating on a 89 Festiva. It has around 200k miles, give or take 1k. New tires not even 300 miles the guy said, good interior, but has had 2 rust spots fixed. The guy wants $550. I would like to go look at it next week if it's worth it. Is it? Thanks a ton!

I'd jump on it without a second thought. Any running car for under a grand is a good deal, and It's tough for me to pass up a cheap Festiva, regardless of condition if the price is right.

check for rust around the rear beam mounts thats about the only thing that kills a festiva.

I bought an 88 at 175 K in '97 and drove it over 275K when the cable broke, it was still running GREAT when I had to sell it in 2011 leaving the area.
Never a major repair of any sort.

Just got another last summer, a 91. Have a 96 aspire daily driver, 112 K. These are good cars!

As long as the rust has been fixed correctly it's worth $500 all day. Running car with $200 in tires on it heck yeah.

89 models with auto tranny are a transition year for EFI and getting hold of ignition-related parts for these is going to be tough. If it's a MTX then it will have a carb, parts for which are easier to source.

It's a 4 speed. I'm guessing the trim is an L? New to the festiva's.

I just acquired a 1989 black Festiva carb model about 2 weeks ago. It's been sitting for 3 or 4 years so I've got some work to do.
