g=series 5th gear swap

to anyone with a g series the 5th gear swap is the way to go shadetree (rob) just did one on hannibal the bp car.

at 70mph it turns 3k rpm. also he installed the wheels(that i had for sale in the fs section)) 165 45 15s rated @145 that charlie suggested and he handles like a dream. pics and more info to come from his new owner. tks shadetree you do great work!

barbie car might be getting this same set up in the near future.

Oh yeah, I did the tall 5th in Tweak before FM6 and saved a bunch of money on gas. I averaged a little over 30mpg on that trip. With the stock G15mr 5th Tweak was lucky to get 25mpg on the freeway. The tall 5th did hurt my lap times a bit on tracks with 130+ mph straights, and 5th gear freeway pulls aren't fun anymore. Top speed is way way faster than anyone needs to go in a Festy. Lol

That's weird that your mileage was that poor. I used to average 35 mpg or so in the Capri and then at least that in the festiva when it was b6t. With a best of over 45 mpg granny driving it. Mostly 55 mph roads out here though.

short lived b/c it wasnt really what i wanted. concentrate my finances on my main car(barbie) and will still get to play with hannibal when he is turbo powered(he will only be 2 hours away and i can go swap out with barbie car any weekend i want to drive him)

Thunder

I got Thunder home tonight. (It used to be called Hannibal)
To the one who ask, I'm running 3100 RPM's at 75 indicated MPH with the G series 5th gear mod.
With the 165-45-15 tires, I'm about 10% fast on the Speedometer Vs GPS.
My GPS is an Iphone 5S on the AT&T network. At 45 indicated mph, the GPS says 40, at 80mph it says 72. That's how I came up with the "About 10%" figure.
But the handling is awesome with those tires.
