  • A List of All Different Festiva Engine Possibilities

Is there a list somewhere of all the different Festiva engine possibilities? Like, there's so many bp designations that I get confused and what vehicles did they originally come from. b6, b3, bp this, and bp that. How many different engines from different vehicles can fit into a Festiva without major modifications?

    Read up, bubba.

I also don't see why the Z series couldn't work. I think they have the same bolt pattern for the trans. Someone could correct me if I'm wrong.

All the major bolts are in the same place on a Z series engines, some of the smaller bolt holes don't line up.
Also Kia Rio engines up to 05 have a Mazda B series bell housing pattern, but are not a Mazda B series engine. I think they were actually made by Hyundai.

So can the F-4EAT from a Escort LX-E or a GT be used with a BP? Likely with the wiring harness and computer from the Escort?

If it will fit. I think it was shadetree or htchbck that had the F-4HAT (hydraulic/analog version of that transmission). IIRC, they installed it in a carb festy

i would encourage you to see if you can drive a GT with the 4EAT before making plans to install. maybe it would perform better in the lighter festiva but it was determined to kill the fun driving my LX-E. if they had just added 2nd as a position on the shifter it would've screamed to 60MPH. the 1.8 really pulls at high RPMs but it seemed the sole goal of the AT was to shift into OD and STAY there. you had to mash the pedal to get a kick down and hell broke loose for a couple seconds. in a festiva i think it could be dangerous. i had a protege with the same engine and trans and the same experiences so i'm guessing that's just the way it is.
