  • Stupid Question

    Was a painted bumper an option on all festivas or does that mean it's had an aftermarket paint job?

  • #2
    The GL got the painted bumpers, all other trim levels got the black or gray bumpers.

      Only U.S. GLs had body color painted bumpers.
      All Canadian Festivas had gray bumpers and soft headliners.
      Only U.S. Festivas with auto belts had hard headliners.
      All Canadian Festivas had manual belts.

      I bought my Festiva GL in Detroit. It had body color bumper skins.
      I threw out my painted ones and put on a pair of gray ones from the wreckers.
      I kept the hard headliner, but threw out the auto belts and replaced them with manual ones. It's entirely up to you. Make it the way you like it.

          OMG I love your car. Yeah the one I'm looking at has the auto belts and painted bumpers but I really like the look of the normal bumpers. That is one sexy automobile. Did you put the decals on yourself or were they stock?

            Exactly that, one is hard made with some kind of cardboard, the other is vinyl

            Vinyl = manual seatbelts
            Cardboard = auto seatbelts

            If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

              Some Canadian Festivas got body color bumpers. The 92 and 93 GL Sports got them as did the LXs.

                I bought my NOS swoosh decals on eBay and did my best to put them on by myself.
                If I had to do it again, I would get a horizontal laser. Freehand isn't the greatest.
                The red tape on the bumpers is probably one of the cheapest and easiest mods to do. It is also one of the first mods I did. Someone on the forum talked me into it.

                  The two Canuck 93 LXs that I scavenged in Ottawa had colour-coded bumpers. These were not ordinary bumpers with a coat of paint because the regulars have a rough surface whereas the coloured ones are smooth right through.
