  • New Ride - '95 Aspire L

Picked this up for $800 with only 71k miles. Very clean and in decent condition, handled the 50 mile drive home at speeds of 75mph with no major issues aside from it being fantastically slow

Welcome! That's a steal, that mileage for that price, and a nice color too. Auto or 5-speed?

What do you mean slow? You were doing 75! ;-)

Please do not throw things at us tho.

It's a 5 speed. Hills make me nervous especially on the highway

But it has zero rust from it originally being a AZ car and no leaks or seeping. It was either this or a '88 Festiva with 228k and a bad CV

Same here. My average after many tanks is 36.5 and I drive it with a little more finesse than I did my Festiva. I would beat the snot out of my Festiva and get 40 mpg. However, 36.5 is much better than 15 and 13 that I get on my other vehicles.

I stand corrected. I've only bought and sold aspire, never really drove them. Has anyone put a festy trans in one to improve the final drive?

Nice ride! The drawback to AZ cars is the heat is hell on the paint and plastic parts, but people here can help with anything you may need. Welcome to the community!

In the spring, I will be swapping my Aspire motor and 5-speed for the ones in Matthew, giving me 85 WHP and the taller ratio. On a trip to FL, I got 48 mpg @ 60mph, over a 250-mile run in Matthew. Curious to see what kind of mileage I get with this combo in an Aspire body--i.e., 300 lbs heavier but with better aero.

BTW my personal best in my stock Aspire was 52 mpg @ 60 mph.
