A few weeks back i picked up a 2000 Chevy Metro LSI Hatch, its ugly it needs completely gone through but it was cheap and my friend needed it gone. I plan to do a full mechanic overhaul on it this summer/fall, i also have plans to convert it into a micro cargo van/motorhome. Plans are that when my seasonal work ends i will have a car i can trust to go anywhere and be able to camp in. Once i get my lay off notice i am hoping to have enough money saved up that i can hit the road and see a large chunk of the USA (and maybe some of Canada).
I was looking for a Festiva but the auto seatbelts kill me and they arent easy to find here for a reasonable price. So with the metro being made for so much longer this is what i settled for, it unfortunately is a 4cyl auto and after doing the research a 5speed swap isnt as reasonable as a Festiva would be so i am sticking with that setup and the awful mpg it brings.
