Trying to fix up and replace items on my 89 Festy.
Standard Grey LX trim interior. In not bad shape either.
Looking back at the area below the rear hatch It appears there may have been a plastic panel
there to "fill" cover that area? Yes / No?

I've never seen one. You refer to the bare painted steel part of the frame not the actual hatch right?

Always been bare AFAIK. Could be wrong though.

you mean the rear sill? where the latch hoop is? no cover. kia offered door and hatch sill protectors for the pride as an accessory but not ford. besides, that's part of the festiva charm. bare minimalism.
