Just wondering what most do for this. Any good homebrew solutions? I've seen from Google several things mentioned such as soaking in Oxyclean and spraying with ATF. Or should I just buy the overpriced, IMO, kit from McParts?

It's cotton right? I've only ever used the kit. It might seem overpriced, but it lasts a LONG time.
IIRC they claim it dries to a tacky kind of finish. So IDK if ATF would work the same. Maybe chain oil? Nothing for sure though.Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.

To clean it I just use a normal spray-bottle household cleaner that says it cuts grease. For re-oiling I use the K&N spray bottle, but I'm sure other products would work well too.90 Festy (Larry)--B6M (Matt D. modified B6 head), header, 5-speed, Capri XR2 front brakes, many other little mods
