  • Rust-free Festiva?

What constitutes a rust free Festiva?

I bought another Festiva today and I'm wanting to sell my old one.
I couldn't find really any rust on the car other than a very small amount of
surface rust dots on the rear bumper beam and a bit of surface rust in the
engine bay behind the fuse panel. Where do these generally rust out at?
The one I bought has a good amount of surface rust, but the one I'm selling
looks pretty freakin clear of it. Not front or rear fender rust, no roof rust, none
on the trunk or roof or anything. I haven't pulled the carpet, but I don't see
any on the bottom either. The headlight buckets have a small amount of rust
on the back part, but I didnt see any otherwise. No rust on the struts, knuckles,
brackets, radiator support, underbody...if I missed anything let me know.

I'm wondering how much a rust free (almost completely dent free) Festiva
with crappy paint and a not great interior would sell for without an engine
or transmission. Everything else would be going with the car. Freshly tinted
windows. The only dent I could find on the car was above the rear wheel.
There is a dent that I can upload a picture of, but I'm not sure if it'll pop
out or not. It's not very deep, hardly noticeable, but if you were to repaint
    it, who knows?

The front seats are rough, but have seat covers. The rear seats look ok.
The carpet is kinda rough, but I can throw in a carpet I got from the junk
yard. The dash has small surface cracks in 4 places. The pillars look fine
and I plan to repaint the rear plastics before selling.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    TL;DR version:

    Question 1:
Wanting to know the price of a rust free (?) Festiva
with terrible paint and a rough interior and no engine
    or trans.

    Question 2:
Where do these most often rust and where should I look for?

Check the quarters right in front of the rear wheels. And the rear beam mounts and up front drivers floor where you would rest your left foot. All rusty festivas I have had or see rust in those spots.

The quarters didn't have rust. Not sure about the mounts but the rear beam looks clean. I'll have to check the floor but I rest my foot there all the time as didn't see anything

        It's probably "rust free" .
As for price it's pretty much who wants it and what there willing to pay. I got a mostly "rust free" festiva and drove it home 3.5 hours for 600. But my nephew got his really rust free festiva an hour away that didn't run for 200.
So price is really hard to say.

Gotcha. I was gonna swap in the engine and trans from mine into the new Festiva since I dot know much about the engine/trans of this new one and I know mine runs good. I'd feel bad selling these to someone else not knowing how well they work

"Rust-free" is pretty much the norm on the West Coast. Sellers don't even bother to mention it.

Ah, figured people with lots of snow would potentially want one without any rust.
