Stock size is 145R12 or 165/70R12. 155R12 works well also.

I found these on a site I've bought from before. I've never seen a 145-70-12. Mine had 145-80-12 Yokohama's when new

I spotted the Nankings.....anyone used them, tell me how they are compared to the Yokohama....I'm tired of the Yoko's....no pun intended.

Also, to the Original Poster of this thread......I heard Les Shwab tire joints have 12's and so does Discount Tires.......hope this helps.

Discount Tires carries Kumho 155/80/R12s. I've bought at least a dozen from them in WA in recent years. The only problem I had was that some of their balance weights, when placed on the inside of the wheel, were contacting structure until they used thinner weights. I can't recall whether this was on the front or rear.

I have wider 13" tires I purchased about 14 years ago for one of my LXs (and have 70,000 miles on them and will probably make it to 80,000), and can definitely feel the extra contact area in the steering wheel ... it takes considerably more effort to steer, even when pumped up to max rated pressure.

The Nankang and the Maxis have been good in the past, I trusted them. The Federal were ok and that is a good price above, Schwab wants a lot more for the same tire. There are some 12 tires that I would rather leave the car home than put that brand on. They cannot be balanced good because they do not stay round at speed as evidenced by the tread wearing off in some spots and not others. Soft wood sticks in the road can penetrate the sidewall..a good tire is tough enough.
