I have been using "Fuelly" for a year and a half now and my average to date is 38.2 mpg. My engine has some pretty worn cylinders so not to bad. My last 10 fill ups have averaged 39.6.

hi
kia pride sedan (IRANIAN) B3 inj. engine (65hp) with 5speed & 13", which is almost 120lb heavier than festi : average 30mpg - best milage @ 60-70mph in highway: 42mpg.
same car with oversized piston & valves (1500cc),10.5/1 compression and some stuff like filter and headers(90hp) : average 38 mpg - best 47 mpg.
so, increased power could cause better milage sometimes

Only fill your gas tank to half full.
Buy hamburger fixings and cook em at home instead of driving 50miles, lol. But seriously, combine trips and drive less.
Buy one of those ebay chips for higher fuel economy
Buy a wideband o2 sensor and stuff so you can lean out your air/feul ratio. I think advancing your timing also does this?
Stick a block under your gas pedal.
Synthetic trans and engine oil should give you 0.1mpg more.
Block the front grille area and under the engine from airflow except bare minimum for cooling.
Go on a diet. Your son too.
Turn off radio, headlights, blower motor, close windows.
Always wished I had a small auxillary motor- like a washing machine motor on the back wheels or wheel and a couple of batteries- geared so I could do 10 or 15 mph for whatever time the batts lasted- for parking lots and drive-throughs and emergency break downs. Wouldn't increase highway miles but save lots of gas in city or jammed freeway.
Coasting- the Motorized Bike below I'm always killing the motor, cause shell coast a half mile at 25 or 30, and so it gets incredible mileage. Too old to ride much now, and it rained almost every day of this MONSOON summer in Jacksonville, so the threat kept me from using them even when I felt up t it.Last edited by harpon; 10-08-2015, 02:47 AM.

The Little Jack gets high 30s on average; tons of hills, and stops, and more hills, and more stops, and very little freeway driving to be had in the little gold rush town I'm in. And to its credit, it did just get resurrected from a seven year sit-and-bake in the desert, down by LA. Assorted gremlins are still being sniffed out.

My first gen B6, with full auto aspire swap, 13" aftermarket aluminium wheels with 175-70 tires w/5 speed, also cheap eBay mushroom filter which I think might slowly be killing the engine. (want to switch back to stock airbox with k&n filter)
Routinely get 38mpg highway at 65-70mph cruising speeds. But very low 30s, almost high 20s without any highway driving and lots of stop lights and the occasional hard pull.
